Each year, Teller offers duck hunting to volunteer hunters. The hunts take place in established hunting blinds that require annual maintenance including new camouflage netting, cattail cutting and structural repairs. This fun day in the field also gives volunteers a better understanding of the various blind locations.

We have removed tons of debris and miles of abandoned fence from the Teller property. But, we still have several areas that contain debris and old barbed-wire fence that is hazardous to people and wildlife. We will be working on placing new posts and stringing new wire in certain areas. Volunteers will be directed to locations where clean up efforts will take place.

Casting for Conservation Women's Fly Fishing Clinic

Ok Ladies! Turn off the vacuum and put your cell phone down...It is time to take a day for yourself and learn the art of fly fishing!

Cost: $80 and Includes a catered lunch and prize giveaways
**Proceeds will be donated to the Bitter Root Water Forum and The Teller

What you will learn:
• Fly casting techniques to increase efficiency and effectiveness
• Where fish live and how to read water
• Tying knots
• Fly selection and entomology
• Choose and wear the right equipment
• Bitterroot River fishing knowledge

What to bring:
• Fishing rod and reel*
• Sunglasses
• Hat
• Rain jacket (be prepared for weather)
• Footwear that can get wet (water sandals, wading boots, or old sneakers)
*Rods will be provided if you don’t have one

Stewardship Day

The Teller Wildlife Refuge is hosting its annual Stewardship Day celebration on Saturday April 27th at the Teller Slack Barn in Corvallis. Community volunteers of all ages are welcome to work on a variety of outdoor projects that benefit the conservation and wildlife habitat on the 1300 acre refuge.

All volunteers are encouraged to contact the Teller office to register and select an available project. Following the work portion of the event, all participants will gather at the Teller Slack Barn at noon for a hot chili and cornbread lunch. Please join Teller to make this year’s event one to remember while giving a little back to Mother Nature!

Teller Youth Conservation Leadership Council Introductory Meeting

The mission of Teller Wildlife Refuge is to Inspire, Educate, and Demonstrate Conservation in Action. The Teller Youth Conservation Leadership Council was started with the purpose of educating and engaging youth on topics of wildlife conservation.  This is a group of dedicated youth leaders that are taking the initiative to learn from experts in various fields of natural resource conservation and through hands-on projects to enhance, restore and create habitat in order to secure and preserve conservation for the next generation.

Tuesday’s topics will include a history of North American wildlife conservation feature speaker

Winter Ecology Camp

Winter is a wonderful time to take a closer look at the landscape around us and to observe the changes that are happening, especially in relation to survival. Join us for a discovery of winter animals, seasonal changes, and adaptations. This camp will be a mixture of outdoor and indoor games, activities to learn about winter ecology, and some nature-themed art. Students will learn about animal tracking and learn how to make a felted animal or bird that they can take home.
